This painting began with a small piece of wattle I carried with me for several days whilst in the Kimberley. I sketched it in quiet moments, noticing the curve of the leaves and the way the light shifted across its soft gold.
Back in the studio, the work grew into a larger piece through loose, flowing layers of watercolour. Greens, indigo, turquoise and warm golds were built gradually, allowing the colours to settle and move like the bush itself — layered, alive, and never still.
The wattle became more than a branch; it held the feeling of time spent outdoors, of observing closely, and of the quiet beauty woven through the Australian landscape. This piece speaks to colour, place, and the small natural moments that stay with us.
