After having an amazing winter that included snorkeling and swimming in French Polynesia, north and south Queensland and Fiji, this abstract watercolour explores the first moments of entering the sea — that shift from air to water, from surface to immersion. Warmth, colour, and light surround you, and the world becomes fluid and weightless. The movement of bubbles, the shimmer of sun through water, and the soft transitions of blue and turquoise formed the visual language of this piece.
The work developed over a week through layered washes and flowing marks that were allowed to move freely. Water and pigment interacted naturally, echoing the rhythm and unpredictability of the ocean itself. Rather than depicting a place, the painting holds the feeling of exploration, wonder, and the quiet magic found beneath the surface of tropical seas.
